Ragnar, heartbroken by Athelstan's death, carries his body up the side of the mountain for burial, and asks Athelstan for forgiveness. Floki receives a sign that "blood must be spilled", and kills Athelstan while he is praying. She had been in the forest when the blood-curdling screams had beckoned her; most belonged to her kinfolk, others to the barbarians laying waste to them. He and Ragnar led jointly their first and second raids to Northumbria yet Ragnar received most of the fame. Vikings has seen a lot of characters come and go, and while some got what they deserved, others remained loyal until the end, making their deaths truly heartbreaking.
The Raid of Hexham was the first Viking raid to a town in the lands of the West. This raid is featured in Season 1 of Vikings, Trial. Such was the case of Helga (Maude Hirst), Floki’s wife and a character very popular among fans due to her loyalty and compassion.
Floki kills him in S 3 E 08. However when Jarl Haroldsson prosecuted Ragnar, his attempts to make Rollo betray Ragnar failed.
After defeating them a captive tells them of the town of Hexham. When Vikings returns, it will give us a new season and a whole new Rollo. Rollo was very ambitious. Ragnar is the leader of his warband.
